I was feeling quite smug this year. For the first year ever I had completed my Christmas shopping early (maybe there are some benefits to lockdown, and no social life!). All wrapped, under the tree and looking beautiful.

But I don’t know what happens - presents seem to shrink in size and I end up with a crisis in confidence with my choices. Invariably I have a panic and end up scouring the internet for new inspiration to add a few extras.

And then there are always those Secret Santas that suddenly get thrown at you, and let’s not forget gifts for the teachers, and a lovely friend who unexpectedly turns up with a gift - suddenly that ‘I’m prepared’ smugness has evaporated!!
