Your home is all about you and your family

At The Living House, it’s so important to us that your home is a reflection of you and your family's personalities. Yes, when we design your home we want it to be beautiful but it needs to be practical and functional too. Gone are the days when your home should have ‘the perfect showhome look’. We’re here to design a family home that’s warm, cosy and designed to be ‘lived in’.

When you have your initial video call with us, we ask you lots of questions. See it as a friendly chat for us to get to know you better. It’s not just about what colours you’d like to use for the room or what furniture you need, we want to know all about who we’re designing for. After all, we are designing your home, the most personal thing to you so we want to learn as much as we can. That way we can design a room that is going to work for your family and lifestyle whilst reflecting your personality. This means Catherine will be asking where your favourite places to travel are and Becky will be asking about your hobbies, and your pets and many more interesting questions so that we can really design a meaningful and personalised room.

We’re not about the show home look

We’ll be honest, designing to create a luxurious show home look isn’t really us. We design with your family in mind, meaning it's about creating a cosy space that doesn’t feel ‘too precious’ that ends up being a room you don’t even want to enjoy and sit in! We’ve had so many customers say to us they want a more transitional and relaxed design style that feels cosy and homely. One thing to know is that we don’t design to one style so if Mid Century or Scandi is your thing, we’re here for that too. We don’t push our own styles on you, we are designing for you not us, and your style preferences are always at the forefront when we’re designing.

Banishing your self doubt and overwhelm

It’s only natural to have self doubt and feel overwhelmed when you're making changes to your home. It’s a big thing you’re investing in and the pressure to avoid costly mistakes can feel huge - meaning the self doubt and second guessing starts to kick in.

At The Living House, we’re here to banish your self doubt. We will give you a design roadmap to work with and you will be able to see the end goal much clearer. Our design process will make updating your home so much more fun! From the exciting inspiration ideas, receiving your final design and then the easy, very exciting part of ordering everything from your shopping list. Imagine ordering and knowing for sure that it’s going to work in your home - no more dreaded returns, yay!! Follow your design scheme plan and you’ll have a beautiful room that works for the whole family.

We spend so much time in our homes, for many of us it's our haven and sanctuary. We want to help you achieve a home you will absolutely love and can’t wait to rush back to after a long day.

Say hello to your new design friends

What we’ve learnt after years of designing for our customers, is that what so many of us need is a design friend. A soundboard, someone to talk through all your ideas and thoughts with. Even if you have a partner, it can still sometimes feel like you’re on your own and the decisions come down to you. Well, no more feeling alone when making decisions when you have us as your design friends! The best bit is when you work with us, you’re not only getting one design friend but two! We’re all about teamwork at The Living House. We love working and designing our customers' homes together to achieve the best results, so you’ll be getting two expert interior design brains to pick.

We move into your home…

Ok, so there’s no need to blow up the airbed… we of course don’t literally move into your home, but when we’re in design mode, we really do transport our minds like we’re living in your home. We take in every inch of space and all the detail so we can visualise the before and after to ensure you have a design that is going to work. We retain so much information and explore lots of ideas so that by the time we’ve completed your design, we’ve fully transported ourselves into your beautiful new room. At The Living House we believe in the detail, that’s why we share everything you need to know from why we’ve selected a sofa in that particular fabric, to what colour you should paint your woodwork and exactly how to style your accessories.

Your design scheme is always bespoke and personalised

There’s no copy and paste format at The Living House. No design is ever the same (how boring would that be?!). We know that families come in all shapes and sizes and so do homes. We understand it is not a one size fits all approach and the same is true when it comes to your interiors. Because we ask you lots of questions in the early stages of our design process it means we can create a personalised design, ticking off all the things you need to incorporate in the room from plenty of storage to that special piece of artwork you want to feature in the room. Each item within your scheme is thoughtfully hand picked with care by our designers, Catherine and Becky. Your design scheme will include everything you need to transform your room, including all those important finishing touches which will bring it all together.

We can shop from anywhere

We can shop from anywhere to suit your style and budget. If you love shopping from high street brands or from small independents on Etsy, we can source items from both. If you love a Facebook Marketplace or eBay find (I know, I do) we can look for any hidden treasures to use in your design scheme. Everything we choose for you is because we believe it's going to truly work brilliantly in the room, not because we’re affiliated with brands or earn commission. Each piece is hand picked to work with your budget (no matter how big or small) and your interior design style.
