This week we wanted to answer some of the great questions that you ask us about The Living House.
Why did you set up The Living House?
When we created The Living House, we wanted to do things a bit differently. As a team of three, we all had plenty of experience in the industry. However we felt that no one really offered the type of design service that we would feel comfortable using ourselves.
It was expensive. You needed to invest a lot of money in both the design process and the items suggested. And it could feel a little intimidating. Would my project be big enough? Would I have good enough taste?! Would they be interested in helping with my three bed semi and creating a real home for three boisterous children and two cats??!
At the Living House the answer to all these is yes, yes, and YES! We wanted to offer you the type of help that we would want - and that our friends and family often asked us for. So we set up three different design packages where you get all of our expert knowledge and skills to give you a beautiful home, using the best of the high street and independent shops. It’s help that is affordable, and to your taste and style. And very importantly, it’s help that is without judgement or snobbery.
How is The Living House different from a traditional interior designer?
Firstly, The Living House was created by us, Catherine, Sophie and Becky, three interior designer friends on a mission to offer the type of interior design help that we would want ourselves! Between us we have thirty years of design experience and knowledge to share with you. Having worked for traditional interior designers, we have created a service that is quick, accessible, and above all friendly.
Secondly, we offer an online service providing you with an approachable, down to earth designer who will help you through the whole process. It doesn’t matter where you are in the country, (or even in another country!) we can have a video chat with you anytime.
Thirdly, there are no hidden extras or extended time scales - you'll pay a low, one time flat fee per room. We have made it straightforward, quick and affordable proving you don't need a huge interior design budget to have the home of your dreams.

What is online interior design?
The Living House specialises in online interior design. We want to make this process as simple as possible for you and have tailored our packages to fit in with your busy life and schedule. We will communicate with you initially by video call and learn all about your project, making an onsite visit unnecessary - which in turn keeps our costs low. From there we will solve your design dilemmas however big or small.

What information will my designer need from me?
Right from the start we believe this process to be a collaboration between you and your designer. The better we understand your design needs, the better your design will be! The first step will be to complete our
'tell us about your project' page, where we will gain an understanding of your project. Depending on which package you choose, we will ask you for photos, dimensions and details of any furniture you wish to keep so we can visualise your space. We will also of course spend time on a video call with you so we are completely clear of your requirements. If you have pinterest boards or have been collecting ideas, please share these with us too. The more we know about you and your family, and your likes and dislikes the better!
What are the differences between the design packages?
We offer affordable interior packages for every type of project, big and small.
Sometimes all you might need is a little advice, or a friendly ear to listen and give you the confidence to go ahead with your ideas. If this is you, then the MINI Living is perfect, offering you the opportunity to ask an expert about a specific design dilemma that’s bothering you.
If you are feeling completely stuck with a room, and you just don’t have the time, inspiration or energy to transform your space, then the MIDI Living is for you. Helping you through the design process, you will get an amazing room, designed to your taste and budget, with a visualisation to see how it will look and an easy to shop from shopping list for you to turn it into a reality!

Finally the MAXI Living is designed to help those of you with fabulous open plan multifunctional spaces. How do I receive my design?
We will complete your designs and send them to you via email in an easy to understand design package.
What if I’d like to revise something?
We work hard to understand your requirements and style so we get it right first time. However if there is something you would like to revise let us know and we will fix it.
We are very proud of our ‘A home you’ll love guarantee’. If you’re not happy in any way with your design, we will continue to work with you until you love it - that’s guaranteed!
Can The Living House design a scheme around products I already own?
Absolutely! We can put a scheme together that factors in important pieces you already own and wish to keep. That’s part of what helps to make the design individual to you and your family.
