Pretty pastel floral kids bedroom

There are so many elements I love in this kid's bedroom. The closer you look at this pretty pastel room, the more beautiful details you see. From panelling to curves (which are big for 2024!), floral patterned wallpaper, rattan lighting, under-bed built-in storage finished with simple yet stylish leather handles - the list goes on, with all of the amazing design features in this room. The mix of patterns and textures works brilliantly together. One of my favourite pieces within the room is the clever use of carpentry with the built-in bed, the curved shelving, and the storage. I would have loved this room as a child (and adult!)

Mixing patterns in a kids bedroom

If you’re a pattern fan, this kid's bedroom is a pattern haven. This particular style works beautifully in older properties with the high ceilings, picture rail, and detailed architraves. The wallpaper has a vertical stripe, which will make the room feel taller, which is always a great design trick. I love how they’ve gone for it and wallpapered every wall, it works so well, and doing this can create a cosy cocooning feel. There is a strong mix of patterns with the lovely built-in corner panelled bench seat and stripe roman blind. Bold stripes like these are always a great pattern to pair with florals. The mixing of patterns here is just wonderful, and the rattan textures pair perfectly.

Colourful scandi kids bedroom

This room oozes a colourful yet calm scandi style. What I love most about this kid's bedroom is the strong mustard yellow contrast with the soft green walls, it really pops and adds vibrancy. The diamond patchwork bedspread really is the star of the show here for me, as it brings the whole room together. This room is playful enough for younger children but has longevity as your child gets older with the cool gallery wall and colour palette.

Built in bed for kids bedroom

This design displays beautiful carpentry. When you’re tight on space, it’s really worth exploring built-in options to make the most of the space you have. The bed has a cosy nook feel, even more so with the curtain, which would really make it snug! I love how they've wallpapered only behind the bed because it really helps to zone this area and make it a little bit more special. The open shelving will add height and is a great way to display your children's favourite toys and books. There are so many lovely features in this room that you can take inspiration from for your children's bedroom.

Wallpaper the ceiling in your kids bedroom

If your kid's bedroom is in the loft, you may be wondering, where do I start and stop the wallpaper and paint? This beautiful room is proof that being bold and wallpapering everywhere pays off and can look absolutely amazing! This kids room has a traditional and eclectic feel with the detailed floral wallpaper and decorative finishes such as the rug and lamp. The soft pastel blue bed complements the wallpaper beautifully and provides lots of storage, with simple drawers underneath and cute bookshelves at the foot end. If you’re looking to go bold, this room should convince you.

Colour blocking stripes in a kids bedroom

If you have a sloped ceiling, this is one way to use it to your advantage and make it a feature. The colour blocking stripes, draw your eyes up and add height to the room. I love the mix of scale with the pinstripes next to the wide stripes. Even with the bold colour blocking on the ceiling, the room has a scandi feel with the wooden bed, muted green and white walls, and monochrome details. This would definitely be a fun bedroom for your children, and it would grow with them.

Use natural materials in your kids bedroom

If you love using raw and natural materials in your home, then take it into your kids bedroom design too. In this cool kids bedroom, they’ve used what looks like plywood to create a bed base with lots of storage underneath. I love the clean lines with the under-bed storage and how they’ve not painted the plywood, which creates a modern and sustainable look. They took advantage of the height in the room by raising the bed, which is a top tip when designing a kid's small bedroom. The pegboard is another great feature, it makes for an interesting display wall. The monochrome colour palette with pops of orange and teal adds a fun element while still keeping the room cool and grown up.

Paint the ceiling in your kids bedroom

I love the beautiful olive green paint colour that’s been used in this wonderful kids bedroom. Painting the ceiling in olive green has created a cosy feel, and it’s giving a dark and moody feel to the room. What I particularly like about this design is the wallpaper and how it's been used to zone what may have been a cupboard that has been opened up. The wallpaper gives the room something unexpected and adds another interesting layer, which is always great to see in interior design.

Mid century kids room design

This kids bedroom has a mid-century feel with the teak bed, which sits beautifully in front of the deep blue paint colour that surrounds the room. I love how this kid's bedroom has a grown up feel with the furniture pieces, but the accessories and styling make it fun. One of my favourite pieces is the rug. It's a simple stripe design, but it makes a statement due to its size.

Panelling ideas for a kids room

Panelling in kids rooms has become increasingly popular, and you can see why from this pretty bedroom. What I love about this kids room is the traditional Morris & Co. wallpaper, which works brilliantly with the soft pink panelling. Overall, the design has a timeless feel that will last for many years to come, which is always a bonus when decorating kids rooms, as you want it to last and grow with them. I would have been more than happy with this room growing up!
